Custom fields — qualify leads, not just collect emails
An email address tells you someone is interested. A custom field tells you who they are, what they need, and whether they are the right person to build for. LaunchSuite lets you add any field to your signup form without touching code.
Available field types
Five field types cover almost every qualification question founders ask during pre-launch.
Text
Company name, job title, use case
Number
Team size, budget, number of users
Phone
Optional mobile number for SMS updates
URL
Personal website, LinkedIn, portfolio
Long text
Open-ended: 'What would you use this for?'
Why qualification beats a plain email form
A plain email capture form gives you a number. A qualified signup form gives you a dataset. By the time you hit 200 signups, you could know: 60% are solo developers, 30% are product managers at startups, and 10% are enterprise — a segment you never considered but is apparently interested.
That information changes your roadmap, your onboarding flow, and your launch messaging. You are not guessing what your ICP looks like. You asked them.
What to ask (and what not to)
| Good question | Why it works |
|---|---|
| What would you use this for? | Reveals use cases you did not anticipate |
| What is your role? | Validates your ICP assumptions |
| How many people on your team? | Signals company size and budget capacity |
| What tool do you use for this today? | Maps your competitive landscape |
Keep it to two or three fields maximum. Every extra field reduces conversion. Choose the two questions whose answers would most change what you build.
What is included
Frequently asked questions
How many custom fields can I add?
Up to 10 custom fields per waitlist on the Pro plan. The free plan supports up to 3.
Can I make a field required?
Yes. Each field can be set as required or optional. Required fields block form submission until filled in.
Where do the responses go?
Custom field responses are stored against each contact in your dashboard. You can filter and export them as a CSV at any time.
Can I add a dropdown or multiple-choice field?
Dropdown and checkbox fields are on the roadmap. Text, number, phone, URL, and long-text fields are available now.
Can I change or remove fields after people have already signed up?
You can add, edit labels, or remove fields at any time. Removing a field hides it from new signups but preserves existing responses in your data.
Are custom field responses visible in the referral flow?
No. Custom field data is private to you. People who sign up via a referral link fill in the same form as direct signups.
